Easy Orange Zested Chocolate Covered Dates
This week has been INSANELY busy for me with balancing clients, bridal showers, writing jobs, and more, so I once again used that I had in the kitchen to throw together these chocolate covered dates for two parties. Chocolate covered dates are a pretty common recipe now, but for good reason. They’re delicious (and somewhat healthier). I wanted to spice them up a bit with some orange juice and zest, and they are SO good. One of my favorite memories as a child is sharing a chococlate covered orange with my grandfather. This flavor combo will always hold a special place in my heart. 🖤
It’s the perfect little superbowl sunday dish to take to your party. I hope you can make them, superbowl or not! They’re super easy and take no time at all. Happy Saturday! 🖤
Love,

Makes: 12 dates
Time to make: 15 minutes
Time to finish: 1 hour
Ingredients:
- 12 pitted medjool dates
- 2 dark chocolate bars (I used xoxox dark chocolate bars)
- 1 heaping tablespoon cold pressed coconut oil
- 1/4 cup smooth, creamy almond butter (the smoother the better)
- 1 large orange
- 1-2 teaspoons hemp seeds
- 1-2 tsps Himalayan pink sea salt
Recipe:
- Lay out a baking sheet and cover with parchment paper. Pit the dates if not already and and set aside in a bowl. Zest the entire outside of the orange and place zest in a bowl, setting to the side. Then cut the orange in half.
- Squeeze the juice of the entire orange into a seperate bowl. Add in 2 chocolate bars and coconut oil, melting ~1 minute, stirring intermittently, until fully melted.
- Using a fork, drop the dates into the melted chocolate and lay onto the parchment paper spacing them out, letting the chocolate drizzle a bit off the fork. Once all 12 are coated, top with hemp seeds, sea salt, and orange zest evenly. Drizzle lightly/messily with almond butter.
- Place into the freezer for at least 45 minutes. Keep in the freezer until serving, or keep in the fridge/freezer as a healthy, quick, chocolatey bite.
Enjoy. 🍊🖤
